The Maine to Santa Barbara Bike & Build cyclists (27 of them) made their way into Payson on Sunday afternoon August 11th. This spirited group of young adults have been cycling across country to bring attention to the need for affordable housing across our country. Bike and Build organizes cross country bicycle trips which benefit affordable housing groups like Habitat for Humanity. Bike and Build’s expansive national footprint allows their organization to promote the need for and importance of affordable housing in 47 states, 1 province and hundreds of communities nationwide. Bike and Build supports local affordable housing organizations along each route through on the road donations. They have made Payson and PAHH one of their targeted stops for the past four years.
After some much needed rest, they woke up Monday morning and began work on two different projects. About 10 of the riders found themselves at the Time Out Transitional Housing where they tore down a shed, and removed some parking blocks that were preventing water to flow as needed for a new garden they plan to start.
