To provide decent, affordable and healthy housing for people with housing needs in the Payson area who have low to moderate incomes and are unable to obtain conventional financing.
WHAT WE DO
Working hand-in-hand with our Volunteers, families, and community we provide a helping hand up to those in need in our community.
Building a house for a family provides more than a structure, it provides a home, hope of a better life, self-esteem, pride of ownership, a helping hand up, and a sense of belonging to our community.
Homeowners partner with PAHH and our volunteers in providing a dedicate number of sweat equity hours in building their homes.Throughout the process of building their homes, relationships are formed between our families, volunteers, and staff. They become a part of the PAHH family.
“Sweat equity” is part of the down payment invested by each carefully selected PAHH partner family. The family assists in the construction of its own house, those of other prospective PAHH homeowners and with fund raising, office work or public relations, by contributing between 300-500 hours of unpaid labor. This makes the home more affordable while creating pride of ownership and community spirit.
In 1994, a group of individuals met to discuss what could be done in the Payson area to alleviate the shortage of low-to-moderate income housing. Out of this and subsequent meetings, Payson Area Habitat for Humanity, Inc. (PAHH) was formed.
Official affiliation with worldwide Habitat for Humanity International® (HFHI) was granted to PAHH on July 1, 1995. Our affiliate is currently one of 14 in Arizona and over 2300 worldwide affiliates in over 93 countries.
Payson Area Habitat for Humanity is NOT a give-away program but a community partnership undertaking among prospective homeowners, businesses, tradesmen, grantors, individual donors and volunteers from all social, ethnic, religious and economic backgrounds. Everyone is invited to lend a helping hand – whether skilled, “do-it-yourselfers” or novices – this enables many to learn new skills while maintaining construction costs at a minimum. Homeowners are offered “A Hand Up, not a Hand Out.”

CURRENT AND UPCOMING PROJECTS
Payson Area Habitat for Humanity is currently fundraising to build OUR 28TH HOME IN PAYSON for a family in need in the Payson area community. The approximate costs of building a new house is $125,000. You can help! Please donate today! Every dollar donated helps a family in need.
A Brush With Kindness is PAHH’s newest project. A Brush With Kindness provides much needed repairs for families in need.
Funds and materials are donated by individuals, grants, and our local business owners. Our Volunteers work hand-in-hand with our families to complete the necessary repairs. Each family partners with PAHH in completing a dedicated number of sweat equity hours either by working with our Volunteers on the project or by completing their hours through manageable means in the PAHH organization.
